Pre-employment Screening
Per Deschutes County Policies HR-3 – Background Checks and HR-8 – Drug-Free Workplace, all candidates must pass a pre-employment screening for criminal history, driving history, and controlled substances (NOTE: Positive test results for marijuana use may result in rescission of a contingent offer of employment). This screening must be completed with satisfactory findings in order for a formal offer of employment to be extended.

Deschutes County relies on our volunteers to provide many important services that benefit Deschutes County residents. We actively recruit a large and diverse group of volunteer workers for multiple and tri-county programs. Our program opportunities include:

Each volunteer must complete an application packet and pass a background screening as determined by the activities and duties of the position. Volunteers will adhere to the same policies and procedures as Deschutes County employees, and must agree to abide by the same rules as an employee before they will be selected for appointment.
