Deschutes County Clerk finalizes new precinct lines

In coordination with Oregon’s redistricting process, Deschutes County finalized new precinct lines on Feb. 18. Many Deschutes County residents will see new congressional and legislative districts on their ballots in the May 17 Primary Election.

Registered voters in Deschutes County who are impacted by the precinct changes will receive a Voter Notification Card containing current district information. Notification cards will be mailed on March 16.

Deschutes County Commissioners appoint Steve Dennison as interim County Clerk

The Deschutes County Commissioners have appointed Steve Dennison as interim County Clerk, effective July 31.

Dennison, who has served as Deschutes County’s Election Supervisor since 2017, will complete the remainder of County Clerk Nancy Blankenship’s term, which ends in 2022. Blankenship announced her retirement earlier this spring and recommended Dennison’s appointment to the Board of Commissioners.

Deschutes County Clerk Nancy Blankenship announces retirement

After nearly 20 years of serving as Deschutes County Clerk, Nancy Blankenship has announced that she will retire at the end of July.

 “I’m at a point in life where I’m ready to spend time with family and friends,” Blankenship said. “It’s time to start working on the bucket list I’ve been accumulating over the years.” 

Blankenship, who oversees both elections and recording, was appointed as Deschutes County’s Clerk in 2003 and has be re-elected four times. She previously served as the City of Redmond’s recorder for 15 years.

Initial (unofficial) election results will be posted online between 8:15 and 8:30 p.m. at www.deschutes.org/electionresults

We expect that updated results will be posted online shortly after 10 p.m. and again when election workers finish for the night.
 

Last day to mail ballots: Tuesday, May 11

Tuesday, May 11, is the last day for Deschutes County voters to safely mail their ballot for the May 18 Special District Election. Ballots must be received by 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 18. No stamp is required.

Ballots that are not mailed by May 11 should be delivered to an official ballot drop site. A full list of drop site locations is available online at https://www.deschutes.org/clerk/page/ballot-drop-box-locations.

Clerk reminds voters of upcoming election deadlines and public certification of vote-counting system

The next election in Deschutes County is the Special District Election, which will be held on Tuesday, May 18.​ Each of Deschutes County’s more than 152,300 registered voters will be mailed a ballot on Wednesday, April 28.
