What is an Intellectual/Developmental Disability?
An Intellectual Developmental/Disability is a neurological condition that primarily affects the brain and motor functioning. It manifests by the age of 18 (a Developmental Disability by age 22) and significantly affects adaptive behavior or everyday living skills. Developmental Disabilities may include Intellectual Disability, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, Epilepsy, and other neurologically disabling conditions.
Who is eligible for Intellectual/Developmental Disability Services?
Not all persons who exhibit disabilities are eligible for services. Test results and diagnosis have specific criteria that must be met. An eligibility team will review all records to determine if the requirements are met under the Oregon Administrative Rules (OAR 411-320-0020-Definitions and OAR 411-320-0080 (1)(16)).
