School-Based Health Centers

The Deschutes County School Based Health Centers (SBHCs) provide affordable, convenient health care and health education to young people who live in the Bend / La Pine, Redmond, or Sisters school districts. SBHCs are a collaborative partnership with medical sponsors, local school districts, and Deschutes County Health Services. By providing routine and basic health care, the SBHCs seek to support improved health for all young people and their families.

The SBHCs are for ALL young people in Deschutes County. Services will never be denied based on insurance coverage or the ability to pay.

Services

The SBHCs provides several treatment and prevention services, including:

Well child exams (with sports physicals as needed)
Sick visits
Immunizations (shots)
Assistance with OHP applications
Mental health services

These services are provided by licensed medical professionals who specialize in child and family care.

Eligibility

Any child, newborn through 20 years of age living in the Bend / La Pine, Redmond or Sisters school districts is welcome to receive care at the SBHCs. The La Pine SBHC is also able to serve patients of all ages.

Appointments are often scheduled ahead of time, but walk-in visits are also welcome.

Youth Action Councils

Youth Action Councils (YACs) are student led groups that work in close collaboration with the SBHCs and high schools. YACs identify and lead projects to promote the health of students in Deschutes County and advise the SBHCs and high schools on student health needs and concerns.
