What is hypothermia?
Hypothermia is a dangerous, life-threatening condition that occurs when your body temperature drops below the normal range.
What is frostbite?
Frostbite is a serious condition that occurs when body parts like your fingers, toes, ears and nose freeze due to overexposure to extreme cold. Infants are more at risk for frostbite.
- Try to stay indoors during extremely cold weather
- When you do go outside, wear layers of clothing to stay warm, covering your ears, face, hands and feet
- Pets can get hypothermia as well so make sure they can stay warm too.

What is carbon monoxide?
Carbon Monoxide is a gas that you can not see or smell. Many household items produce this gas, including gas and oil burning furnaces and portable generators. Carbon monoxide poisoning can be fatal.
- Keep anything that can burn at least 3 feet away from furnaces, fireplaces, wood stoves, and space heaters.
- Turn off space heaters when leaving the room or going to sleep.
- Turn off heat source if there are any unusual smells.
- Test smoke alarms regularly.
- Install a carbon monoxide alarm.
- Don’t leave a vehicle running inside a garage
Travel Safely in Winter
